‘American Gong’ getting great reviews… hell, even Pitchfork liked it.

September 27, 2010

Quasi’s wonderful album, American Gong, now just over six months old, has received some great reviews according to metacritic.com. Counting twenty-one professional reviews, there is only one negative, and among the most glowing of them all is from legendary rock critic Robert Christgau, who calls it “a darn good grunge record.” Under the Radar, Mojo, Delusions of Adequacy, and even the ridiculously negative-nancy Pitchfork are among the positive reviewers.

For those of you who have yet to purchase the record, please do. If you’re like myself and have already bought two copies (one on CD and one on vinyl), I’m sure you have a friend who doesn’t know Quasi who would probably love them. There are links to videos and a few free mp3s available at their Kill Rock Stars artist page, which is right here. The best thing you can do for a band you appreciate is give others the opportunity to appreciate them, too! You can’t love a band you’ve never heard of.

Speaking of videos, here is the band’s latest, courtesy of the Kill Rock Stars YouTube, “Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler.”
